What actually gets recommended on the biggest interview podcasts, by whom, and how often. Every number on this page is computed from the full-transcript extraction corpus behind this site: 2,326 episodes of the five biggest shows, 28,885 extracted mentions, each with a speaker, a timestamp and a verbatim quote. Rankings live on the most recommended page; this page is the numbers behind them.
Not every mention is an endorsement. Of the 20,869 confident, non-sponsored mentions in the corpus, only 5,649 (27.1%) carry real endorsing language. That line between recommended and merely referenced is the core of this dataset.

Independent convergence is the strongest signal in the dataset. Of 1,453 books with at least one genuine recommendation, 195 were recommended by two or more different named speakers, 68 by three or more, and 10 by five or more. A book that keeps surfacing from unrelated guests earned it.

Corpus: 2,326 machine-extracted episode files built from full public transcripts of The Joe Rogan Experience, The Tim Ferriss Show, Lex Fridman Podcast, Huberman Lab and The Diary of a CEO; 2,326 parsed cleanly and 0 malformed file was excluded. Every extracted mention carries the item, the speaker, a timestamp, the verbatim quote, an intent class (recommended, referenced, own work, critical, or sponsor ad) and an extraction confidence rating.
Filtering: of the 28,885 extracted mentions, 4,098 sponsor ad reads are excluded first (paid speech is not a recommendation), then 3,918 low confidence entries are dropped, leaving a working set of 20,869 high and medium confidence mentions. Episodes are attributed to shows the same way the rest of this site does it, so a host interviewed on another show counts under their own name.
Counting: name variants are merged only on capitalization and spacing, never guessed (Creatine and Creatine monohydrate stay separate rows), so item counts are conservative. Generic speaker labels the transcripts never resolved to a person are excluded from per-person rankings and from distinct-recommender counts. Nothing on this page is hand-entered; it is recomputed from the corpus on every build. Data through August 2026.
